Youth Equipment List

Please make sure to label all of your gear!

Everyone Should Bring: 

• 1 large plastic bag with your name on it containing:

  • 1 warm sleeping bag 

  • 1 blanket

  • 1 warm coat

• 1 five-gallon bucket with your name on it with padded lid, lined with a plastic bag and containing:

  • 1 rain poncho (make easily accessible!)

  • 1 heavy-duty garbage bag

  • 1 small ground cloth, tarp, or heavy visqueen/plastic (used to wrap around individuals at night to protect against moisture. 5'x7' or 6'x8' recommended)

  • 1 pair of comfortable, sturdy boots or shoes to hike in (make sure to break them in before Trek!)

  • 1 pair of tennis shoes

  • 3 pairs of good, sturdy socks (Get socks of wool or synthetic material, not cotton.) 

  • 3 sets of underclothing

  • 1 metal pie plate (or a plate with enough of a lip to hold stew)

  • 1 large spoon

  • 1 fork (or a spoon/fork combo)

  • 1 water bottle

  • 1 small package of baby wipes (it gets dusty)

  • 1 comb or brush

  • 1 toothbrush and travel toothpaste

  • Deodorant

  • Small first aid kit

  • Small bottle of hand sanitizer

  • Any physician prescribed medications

  • 1 pair of work gloves (leather works best)

  • Flashlight (not on a phone--no electronics permitted)

  • Lip balm with sunscreen

  • Insect repellant

  • Sunscreen

  • Sunglasses (optional)

  • Anti-chafing stick

  • Scriptures

  • Personal journal (optional--Trek journal will be provided)

  • Bandana (optional--Trek bandana will be provided)

Young Men Should Also Bring:

• 2 pair of cotton or canvas pants (no denim)

• 2 long sleeve shirts

• 1 pair of suspenders

• Warm pajamas

• 1 wide-brimmed western style hat (no baseball caps) with string for wind

• Beanie or knit winter hat

• Compression shorts under pants (optional)

Young Women Should Also Bring:

• 2 mid-calf length, long sleeve dresses or skirts and long sleeve blouses

• Compression shorts/pants to wear under skirt

• 1 wide-brimmed straw hat with a string (bonnets aren’t recommended–they get too hot)

• Beanie or knit winter hat

• 1 or 2 aprons

• Warm pajamas

• Feminine hygiene supplies (make easily accessible!)
